Any info about Counts?

Conwy Council is counting all borough and community votes between 9am and 4pm on Friday centrally at Venue Cymru, a horrible decision!

We are electing local councillors and locals should know the results locally after a local count. The final results may not be available until Tuesday or Wednesday on the Council's website! Not good enough!

In the good old days we use to be able to toast our new councillor in the local pub at last orders on election night – that is how it should be!

How are other councils counting? Are they all centralising on Friday or will some results become available on Thursday night / the early hours of Friday morning?

  3. Carmarthenshire: centralised in Llanelli; verification overnight; count 9.30 a.m. on Friday - 74 county councillors first, town and community councils second; should be done by 5 p.m.

Ceredigion: centralised in Aberaeron; verification and county council overnight; should be done by 4 a.m.; community councils (not many in this case) count at 9 a.m.

  4. Standards are starting to slip actually with counts. Similar things happening in England and Scotland. It is as if their importance is being downgraded. The mystery surrounding these counts doesn't exactly send out a positive message to local electorates.

In the online age they should be posted immediately after confirmation. Believe it or not, people are interested and do want to find out who their councillor is.

  5. County results will be issued here http://www.conwy.gov.uk/doc.asp?cat=9918&doc=30959 as they are collated at Venue Cymru. First results will be at around 10:30am.

  6. To add to Emlyn's info about Ceredigion, the results are expected to be posted on the Council website as they're announced.
